DC Power Supplies

AACD (Automatic Average Current Density)

AACD (Automatic Average Current Density)

In an electrocoating process, different size parts require different power levels to ensure proper film thickness. The AACD insures that the proper voltage levels are applied to the paint tank based upon the size of the part. Without the AACD, an operator would have to adjust the DC supply so that the maximum amount of power for the largest part will be applied to the tank at all times. If smaller parts are on the same line then all of the excess power and paint is wasted. The AACD corrects this problem. The AACD automatically adjusts the output voltage based on the output current value (current density) in the tank to ensure that larger parts receive more power and more paint and smaller parts receive less power and less paint.

FAQ
  • How much can I save with the AACD?
We have seen savings of up to $50,000 per year and in one case even a $1,000,000 per year. (Note that savings depend upon system configuration and volume of parts.)

  • Can the end user program the AACD?
Yes, the AACD can be programmed by the end user via an optional touch screen display. A technician from the factory is not required.
